The white fused aluminum oxide powder is an excellent polishing powder. It is not only for metal, iron, or stainless steel. But also works well for plastic, stone, wood, resins, etc.

Actually, there are several kinds of aluminum oxide powder in the industrial field. Some of them are industrial-level Al2O3 powder. It is from the aluminum plant by Bayer process.  Then factories of aluminum oxide powder have to fuse/calcine it to get fused aluminum oxide or calcined aluminum oxide. However, fused aluminum oxide is the most used powder for abrasive usage.  After the fusing process (melting alumina to a half-liquid aluminum oxide at a temperature above the melting point of aluminum oxide), the crystal phrase turned to α-Al2O3. α-Al2O3 crystal is harder than other phrases. Good produce technology will increase the α-Al2O3 phase transaction rate.

On the other hand, aluminum oxide powders without fusing are of lower hardness. Although they get calcined or sintered, the calcined/sintered temperature is lower than the melting point of Al2O3. They can be used for thermal industries or ceramics. But the grinding ability can’t rival white-fused aluminum oxide powder.

On the other hand, polishing or finishing requires a precise polishing effect. White fused aluminum oxide powder gets finer and finer with several sieving stages. After getting block and grit from the white fused aluminum oxide lump, it is get washed by water flow. This suspension treating method makes the powder of a narrow particle range. So it’s can get a good finish surface after polishing.
