White Aluminum Oxide Sandblasting Media also known as alumina sand, is a high hardness abrasive with a purity of 99%. Aluminum oxide blasting media is suitable for stainless steel, aluminum alloy, glass, steel castings, gel coat surfaces, and alloy parts. White aluminum oxide has high hardness, aggressive grinding performance. It is not easy to pulverize and is high efficiency. It has superior performance compared with natural abrasives such as quartz sand and garnet.

 

Abrasive blasting is an excellent surface treatment not change substrate shape. Abrasive media will grind the substrate surface by spraying compressed airflow. The surface of the workpiece will get physically changed after blasting. Sandblasting can get different roughness on the surface. Overall, adopting proper blasting media helps save cost and get efficient operation.

 

The advantages of using white corundum are as follows:

1. It can quickly remove the stains on the surface of the workpiece. Blasting damage the material surface in microstructure and get an uneven surface. Thus, the surface area is greatly increased, which can enhance the adhesion between the metal surface and the coating during subsequent spraying.
2. The main component of White Aluminum Oxide is alumina in the alpha phase. The content of Fe2O3 iron impurities and magnetic substances is very low.  It won’t make iron residue on the machined surface. That reduces the risk of oxidation on the metal surface.
3. The hardness of White Aluminum Oxide Sandblasting Media is 9.0 Mohs hardness. In the meantime, it works well even for blasting on hard materials such as tungsten molybdenum alloy and cemented carbide.
4. Recycled time of White aluminum oxide is high.  As a result, the particles turn to smaller grit after several times of use.
5. White Aluminum Oxide Sandblasting Media is available in a wide range of sizes, from F8 to F220 of white aluminum oxide sand and 240 mesh to 10000 mesh of white aluminum oxide powder, meeting the requirements of different processing accuracy.
