The main chemical of WFA Abrasive grit is Al2O3, whose CAS NO. is 1302-74-5.
The raw material of grinding grade WFA is industrial-grade aluminum oxide powder. After smelting the powder and a few additives in a furnace at about 2200 centigrade, it will get WFA blocks. On the outside of the original block, there will be more impurities than the part in the core.
The main impurities of WFA are including SiO2, Na2O, Fe2O3. Those impurities will affect the quality of WFA Alumina Oxide in the following aspects:
- In the abrasive tools industries:
WFA Aluminum Oxide Abrasive with higher impurities will affect the toughness, cutting & grinding ability, self-sharpening ability of WFA Abrasive material. After producing abrasive tools such as cutting disc, grinding wheel, it will affect the performance of discs.
SiO2 will influence the bonder ability for vitrified abrasive tools, honing stones, and whetstones. Thus, it may cause cracks in the tools.
- In the refractory industries:
Na2O impurities in WFA Aluminum Oxide will decrease the bending strength, bulk density, and compressive strength at high temperatures.
HAIXU Abrasive adopts high-quality low sodium Al2O3 powder as raw materials and picks up core blocks to further production. So we can control the impurities well.
The typical chemical composition of HAIXU WFA Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Grit F220 is as below:
AL2O3 | 99.53% |
SiO2 | 0.06% |
NA2O | 0.19% |
Fe2O3 | 0.01% |
CaO | 0.05% |
K2O | 0.02% |
MgO | 0.01% |
L.O.I | 0.13% |
